Safety first!
Remember, always make sure you've switched off your appliance and unplugged it from the mains before carrying out any work.
Step 1: Access your LG washing machine's door lock
To replace the faulty door look inside your LG washing machine, you'll first need to access it. Start by removing the outer retaining band from around the door seal. To do this, work your flathead screwdriver beneath the spring at the bottom of the retaining band.
Then work the screwdriver around the door seal. This will pry the retaining band free from around the seal.
With the outer retaining band removed, you will be able to push and fold the rubber door seal inside the door frame. This will give you access to the door lock inside.
Step 2: Remove your LG washing machine's door lock
The door lock will be screwed to the inside of the door frame by two screws. To remove the lock, use your Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew these two screws.
Once unscrewed, you will be able to pull the door lock away from the inside of the frame and out of the door. However, it will still be held in place by an electrical wire connection.
To fully disconnect the door lock, simply pull the electrical connection off the lock. The door lock will now be fully removed from your washing machine.
Step 3: Fit the new door lock into your LG washing machine
Now you can start fitting your new door lock! First, simply reconnect the new door lock onto the electrical wire connection.
Then slot the door lock into place on the inside of the cabinet and, using your Phillips head screwdriver, screw it back into place with the two screws you removed earlier.
Step 4: Refit your LG washing machine's outer retaining band
With the new lock in place, you will just need to finish by refitting the outer retaining band around the door seal. First, pull the rubber door seal back out of the door frame.
Then fit the door seal's inner lip all the way around the door frame. Take your time with this, as it's important that the door seal is fitted onto the door frame all the way around.
Once the door seal is in place, you can refit the outer retaining band back around the door seal to secure it.
If needed, you can use your flathead screwdriver to work the outer retaining band into place all the way around the seal.
